Conference 2007

attendees at a conferenceZero Tolerance for Domestic Violence, Family Violence & Elder Abuse is launching its first biennial conference this year entitled, "In the Interest of the Child: Promoting Happy Families, Parenting, Fatherhood, while serving Children Exposed To Domestic Violence: New Roles for Public and Private Agencies".  The conference represents one component of Contra Costa’s participation in the Safe & Bright Futures for Children strategic planning project funded by the United States Department of Health and Human Services.

Speaker Presentation

The conference will present culturally diverse and nationally recognized speakers on various topics addressing the dynamics of promoting healthy families and addressing violence in the home.  Conference attendees will explore the differential impacts of institutional involvement in the advancement of healthy and happy families and new innovations in intervention. Speakers will identify strategies for disrupting the cycles of violence while engaging innovations in promoting marriage, paternity, parenting and child protection.

Conference Features
  • Networking Luncheon: Conference attendees will have the opportunity to meet with speakers, to network with each other, and visit booths of participating sponsors and agencies. This aspect of the conference contributes to an atmosphere of exchange and exploration that brings professionals and community members together from various fields. The lunch forum is designed to engage participants in cross-disciplinary approaches to issues.
  • Keynote Speakers and Afternoon Panel: Conference participants will investigate with speakers the application of specific methods for happy families, important components of service delivery, and cross-cultural contexts. The panel will be devoted not only to identifying variations in family/victim interventions but also next steps to empowering families for long-term success.
