Greta Tubbesing, BA, has been working with Prevention Institute since July 2006, providing support on the Institute’s work in violence prevention. She has contributed to the development and facilitation of several Prevention Connection web forums in collaboration with the California Coalition Against Sexual Assault, including Media Advocacy, Organizational Practices to Prevent Violence Against Women, the Health Care Sector, and several forums on framing. She is Project Assistant for Urban Networks to Increase Thriving Youth (UNITY), a national initiative to strengthen and help sustain effective approaches to preventing urban youth violence. She has also assisted in the Institute’s consulting work in strategic violence prevention planning for Alameda and San Francisco Counties. In addition, Greta has co-facilitated several violence prevention trainings, including for the Washington Coalition of Sexual Assault Programs, the Family Violence Prevention Center Conference on Health and Domestic Violence, Ending Violence Against Women: A Forum for Primary Prevention Advocates, and local violence prevention planning in the city of San Bernardino, California. She has contributed to the development of numerous presentations and trainings, including a California State Assembly Hearing and a presentation for the United States Department of Defense.  Ms. Tubbesing received her Bachelors degree from University of California Berkeley in 2005 in immunology and public health with an emphasis on community health and health policy. During her time at Berkeley, she designed and co-taught two courses, "Beyond the Doctor's Office: Interdisciplinary Perspectives in Health" and "Inclusion and Initiative," on disability issues. She has been a volunteer medic at the Berkeley Free Clinic for over four years, providing free health care delivery to the uninsured and underinsured. In addition, she has been active in the Clinic’s training collective, teaching numerous classes from Women’s Health to Urinary Tract Infections. She spent one year as Clinic Medical Co-Coordinator, and also served as a medical assistant at the Berkeley High School Health Center for over two years.
